  • Last Semester, It is about freakin time…

Well it is half way through the semester, and so far everything is going smoothly. I’m enjoying the classes and having fun (for once) The server got more RAM (it was a good deal) and is ready to keep adding more people to it. The basement is starting to take shape as I finish the bar and prepare for drywalling some of it to make some rooms

  • So much for life calming down

Well, I guess it still did in a way, but with trying to get class work done before the final, getting stuff done at work, and keeping up with websites, it seems I’m just as busy as ever… Last night the server was down for a bit as I upgraded the memory in anticipation of hosting some more sites, as well as updates that needed to be done. I’m off to do some more work, so until next time…

  • What a Ride! Sitting on the dock at the bay watching my car float away.

Yes, It has been a long while… Many things have happened since the last post. School screwed me over by not overriding the class that I needed to graduate cause it is full. On top of that, they are no longer accepting another class as a sub, so now I have to take TWO major electives. YAY ME! So next semester is the magic time of graduation.

After all that, a good portion of the county got flooded, including parts of my neighborhood. Fortunately we suffered no damage and could get places, but half of the neighborhood was stranded, and some of the fields and trails were destroyed.

Work is still work, and I’m still running around with my head cut off. Shouldn’t it have settled down by now? sheesh…

  • Ah… the first day of school…

Is a nightmare… well not exactly, but when you have to take care of elementary schools, and the parents can’t let little Billy ride the bus, it gets pretty annoying. I know it is a special day and all, but at least let your kid ride the bus to school. It is your tax dollars going to waste if you don’t. I love that the district decided to cut a number of stops, and parents complained that their kid will have to walk further. Maybe if you used it to begin with, the county wouldn’t have to cut stops.

In other news, my university decided to screw me over again by deciding not to offer this one class anymore. One of the two I needed to graduate. At least they let me sub in an elective (Yay web development I) but still a pain. One day I will graduate… one day

  • Summer thoughts…

A lot has been on my mind lately, and with certain things that have gone on I need to vent… While good things have happened in the past couple months that have kept me really busy, (bought a house, getting married in a couple weeks, etc.) Some bad things have come my way, and even if it doesn’t affect me personally, it affects the people I work with that I view as friends. I know with the economic situation, even government is having to cut back, and who I work for is no exception. I just don’t like the fact that they don’t feel like our positions are important enough to warrant going into reserve funds to keep us around. What is worse is they talk about how it was hard to lose 8 positions in the central office, but they saved everyone elses job. No where do they mention cutting 14 of us. No where do they have heavy hearts, no where do they have any remorse. One board member actually alluded to the fact they they don’t need us. If they want to go back to paper and pencil, feel free to get rid of more of us. When your computer doesn’t work and no one is there to fix it, maybe then you will realise what you have done. Last year these techs were hired because the board was not satisfied with the level of support, and now you are going to cut them this year. That is just a slap to the face if I ever saw one. Some people just don’t get it until it is too late. But the board isn’t the only one to blame… management definately had a role in not sticking up for us. Our CTO should have put the fear of God into that board saying we can’t afford to cut technicians. With all the technology being added this coming year, we need all the support we can get, but no, he just kept talking about unrelated projector bulbs… sigh…

It is just sad to see 14 people be let go because of the stupidity of people in charge that have no clue what technology is about….
