weee mustang work
Posted on September 26th, 2008 No commentswell, the front disk brake conversion kit came in… only a couple issues… one parts bag was missing… so I can’t mount the new master cylinder, and one of the brake pad clib bolts sheered off when it was being screwed in… other than that it was pretty straight forward.
I also took the alternator off and took it to go have tested… found out that it was actually taking up energy instead of producing energy… might be why the battery keeps going dead… so got a new one and now just waiting on a new harness since the other basically fell apart on me when I took it off…
the next big project will be some engine tuning, some more wire harness work, and some bulb socket replacements along with the harnesses… hopefully I will have all this done in time for the wedding…

Name Change
Posted on September 16th, 2008 No commentsWell I figured I’m more of a geek than a nerd… so I changed the blog name to Tales from a geek… I will still rant from time to time… but that time is becoming less and less… I’ve lost close to 30 pounds over the summer and started to work out more to keep it off and loose some more… Also trying to build up some muscle too… Anywho my next big project is converting the brakes on the mustang… they are ordered and FedEx has them on a truck… should be here Thursday or Friday… I have a friend coming over tonight to help take off the old drum brakes so he can refurb the spindles and knuckles at his shop… I would drive it over there, but the whole no stopping thing is why I’m redoing it… Wish us luck!

Server parts good, fire bad
Posted on August 14th, 2008 No commentsso yea… putting in that raid card the server magically caught aflame… yay me… the amazing part is the server still worked after that…. so Dell sent a replacement and Tues night I swapped everything over to the new one… which was actually upgraded… slightly faster processors, and it came with a basic RAID card… which will suit my needs just fine… now to make an image of the OS so when I create the RAID array it can throw the image back on there…

Server goodies…
Posted on July 23rd, 2008 No commentsJust a little server update… to try and speed it up some, I’ve ordered a better RAID card and the first of a couple harddrive upgrades. The first drive is on its way here.. a 73GB SAS 15.5K RPM drive that the OS will reside on… right now it is on a SATA 7200 RPM drive that I thought would be good enough… but as more sites are added the spooling time seems to get longer when they invoke .net so hopefully this will help… eventually I will get a 250GB drive to replace the SATA one in there now that is used for storage, then use the old drives for backup or software installer storage… who knows… maybe use it to test out stuff… but hopfully I won’t have any issues ghosting to the new drive…

Finals… again…
Posted on July 23rd, 2008 No commentswell summer classes are coming to a close, and that means finals once again… even though it is only two classes I don’t like have 4 projects due… you would think in summer they would drop one of them since you have half the time to work on it… but alas I guess they don’t care… whats worse is that some of the projects are so vague that you don’t even know what it is supposed to look like… oh well… after this week I can actually sleep again… weee
